The addition of Lecithin and Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) to Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar resulted in a medium that effectively neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds in testing of germicidal activity. Total neutralization of disinfectants is critical. SOB Broth is recommended for use in cultivation of recombinant strains of E. Coli. It is a nutritionally rich growth medium for use in the preparation and transformation of competent cells.
Add two capsules to one liter of distilled water. Heat and stir gently to completely dissolve medium. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
